¿Cómo es el complejo Vaujany?

Vaujany is a village resort sharing the same domain as Alpe d'Huez with skiing from 3300m to 1100m and some of the longest and most beautiful runs in Europe (http://www.alpedhuez-granddomaine-ski.com/). Vaujany is genuinely good for all standards of skier. With a world-class lift system, 123 pistes and 845 snow cannon Vaujany is one of the top French resorts - a real must for the experienced skier and a perfect place for beginners and intermediates. Runs worthy of special mention include The Champagne Run, starting at Pic Blanc (3300m) and descending down into the snowy forests of Enversin (1100m), one of the biggest runs anywhere in the world linked back into a lift system. Then there is also the Sarenne, regarded as the longest black run in Europe. And Vaujany is not only blessed with state-of -the-art lifts and fabulous skiing it also has facilities that would grace a major resort such as the modern swimming-pool and leisure centre, offering multi-gym, sauna, jaccuzi and sports hall. There is also an excellent village creche, a local ski school, an ice-skating rink, and a good selection of bars and restaurants. We would recommend that you stay with Ski Peak who support their clients with a generous complement of staff and who have a small friendly Hotel - The Rissiou, the 5star La Perle de l'Oisans apartments and five catered chalets including the award winning Chalet Saskia.

Martin de United Kingdom escribe:

Obviously, the Alpe d’Huez area is terrific but i’ll focus on the Vaujany side.

The village is cute enough but, as it’s small, lacks choice in shops, restaurants, bars etc.

You’re probably considering Vaujany as you’ve got young kids and the ski school and kids club are really good and used to Brit families. The problem lies in the fact that Vaujany is at the far left end of the piste map so if you have to return to base to pick the kids up after morning lessons or after their lunch you’re always checking your watch and have to time your return well.

Lifts from the ski school area of Montfrais are painfully slow so it’s sometimes quicker to get a bubble into Vaujany (you can’t ski back) and then the gondola up the hill (quite a faff). La Fare black run is a good way to get back and probably easy for a black in almost all conditions.

The gondola and chairs close if the wind is coming down the valley which virtually stops all skiing. You then need to either drive to Oz or if that’s out of action too, it’s a long drive to ADH.

While Vaujany is small, it has a few good places to eat. Table de la Fare is great and to plat de jour is usually terrific value. La Remise is probably the best restaurant and the steak in Stieffs is also good.

You’ll have a great trip (wind permitting) but you may get fed up with it quickly unless the kids enjoyment makes it worth the minor annoyances.
