St Michael, in Austria, is a large resort with 11 lifts (3 chair lifts, 8 surface lifts) that offers skiers an incredible 1110 metres (3642 feet) of vertical descent. St Michael, linked with its neighbour Mauterndorf, has 28 pistes with a total length of 80 kilometers (50 miles). There are 70 kilometers (44 miles) of cross country ski trails at St Michael. For snowboarders, there is a terrain park and a half pipe. A small proportion of the pistes at St Michael are covered by snow-making. The nearest airport is at Salzburg and the nearest train station to St Michael is at Tamsweg.
