Yesterday was a reminder that spring life is in the air, with mild temps keeping the snow level just above the village while higher elevations enjoyed just over 2 inches of fresh, wind-flurried snow. Conditions look to stay variable throughout the weekend, offering a mix of surfaces as showers and sun trade spots. In short, it's a classic spring-forward day: mellow in the village, knife-edged on the wind-exposed ridges, with something for everyone from groomers to pockets of soft snow up high. Schweitzer is German for crappy snow. I had to live there for 30 years due to my job. The maritime climate makes for wet or icy conditions. Management touts it as a destination resort. Being raised in Jackson Wyoming, I can attest to the fact that Schweitzer lacks the snow, class or ambiance of a destination resort. Go to a resort with higher elevation and finer amenities.
