Since last Friday we all knew that weather conditions would be all time yesterday Wednesday the 20th: sunshine and virtually no winds plus fresh snow from the days before.
So we reach the resort around 10:00 with the snow bus and the conditions where even better than what we expected, truly all time. But we found out that Nefeli piste and the Stiga lift will be closed throughout the day and the staff haven't prepared virtually anything else. No snowpark, even the drag lines were not working except for the one at the base.
Everyone was cramped at the base lift and drag line, making the wait hilarious for a weekday and so tiring that you couldn't perform on the "slopes" afterwards. Whatever the managers or staff have to say, this Wednesday was a disgrace and surely solidified our belief that it is not a skiing resort, but just a great mountain with some derelict lifts and some people who are satisfied with their business working below even the bare minimum and in days that would be epic for everyone!
They might reply to this but really there is nothing that they can say about the situation yesterday which was a disgrace. If you cannot prepare your "resort" for such a great day, you do not belong in this business, period. And the "great snowfall" excuse is hilarious to say the least. I love this mountain so much! I have been snowboarding for 4 years exclusively at Helmos. The conditions at the resort are so awful but I keep on going there. That's how good this mountain is and how bad the owners/managers/staff have always been at their business.
I really hope this review makes it through moderation so people can read it and reach the "resort" prepared. Even though i am Greek, i wrote my review in English so foreign skiers/snowboarders know what to expect from Helmos' alleged "snow resort" if and when they come. Such a shame, these people are sitting on the best mountain for skiing/snowboarding in Greece and have absolutely no clue on how to use it. Such a shame.
