    Just returned from a five night trip to Alpbach and have to say it was the best skiing holiday we have ever had in 22 years of skiing.
    We booked independently, flights via Easyjet, Gatwick/Innsbruck, Taxi and Alpbacherhof Hotel and saved a great deal on the Inghams price.
    The Hotel is excellent, great food, superb Spa area and very friendly and helpful staff. Hotel staff organised the taxi, lift passes etc (who needs a rep?)
    The ski area was just what we wanted as it was our daughters second skiing holiday and conditions were perfect and she was going down black runs on day 2.
    Austria has always been our favourite choice but we wanted a change, we read the previous reviews and Alpbach did not disappoint.
    We will be going back asap.

    We keep on coming back to the place we learned to ski at - Alpbach (Alpbachtal). We always stay at the Boglerhof and we love it. We have been all over the world skiing: Norway, Canada, USA, Italy, France and Switzerland but you can not beat Alpbach.

    I don't know why I am telling you this as the less people there the better.

    Alpbach (Alpbachtal) is almost exactly as the brochures describe it. Having won Austria's prettiest village on many occasions, I can easily say it definitley deserves this accolade. It's situated almost at the head of the valley surrounded by towering snowy peaks. You can see the ski area from almost every angle in the village. Asside from the gorgeous views the skiing is a real treat. For anyone classed as an intermediate the Wiedersbergerhorn mountain should have enough runs to keep you happy for a week's stay. Those who are first timers needn't worry as the nursery slopes are in the centre of the village (a real bonus for anyone who hasn't got used to walking in ski boots yet). As for experts, black runs are few and far between but saying that the off-piste is the best I've experienced so far. The 2000 area offers you almost a whole ungroomed mountain begging to be carved up! It has the lot: high glade skiing, challenging coulouirs and superb tree skiing. Personally, I'd recommend having one of the excellent and friendly ski intsructors show you the best bits (and all the hidden powder!). As for the village, don't expect rowdy bars and a centre as such. It's situated along a very quiet single road. Most people tend to flock to the 'Post Alm' after a day on the pistes which is just a short walk from nearly every hotel and has some of the best pizza I've ever had. The service all over Alpbach is faultless and the people always grace you with a smile. As for hotels, we stayed at the Alpbacherhof which seemed to be the main and largest hotel. As for everywhere we've stayed in Austria, the hotel was always spotless and the food was never repeated and came well presented. As an introduction to skiing, Alpbach offers almost everything and for those with experience the ski area is large enough to keep you happy.
    Inneralpbach is set at the head of the valley about a ten minute drive from Alpbach and is connected by the skiing area. Inneralpbach consists of mainly hotels, so a strole in the evening is not really an option.

    Lovely area. We've been staying in Reith i. Alpbachtal for the past 3 years and will return this February. Not too big but good skiing for virtually any level and we've been to the huge areas (Portes du Soleil, Trois Vallees, etc as well). If only they would run a few more buses between Alpbach and Reith... probably heaven ;-)
    A few busy areas (worst is the Kohlgruben lift) but queues are manageble. And if there's a good snow base... lots of mountain to explore! Anyway, don't go to Alpbachtal. You'll spoil it for us.

    We have been going to Alpbach for 9 years now and love the people and overall ambience. We stay at the Boglerhof, booking direct wt flights to Munich and then a train to Brixlegg.
    Recommend this place for those that want Austrian Charm!!

    See you all there in February this year.

    Just came back from an amazing holiday. Alpbach is breathtakingly beautiful. Ski instructors were capable and professional and spoke good English. As beginners, the kids were skiing varied reds and blacks by the end of the week and us adults could manage the challenging blues. The skiing conditions were good in that there was loads of snow but it snowed so much in the last 3 days that, occasionally, visibility was poor. This did make it challenging as a beginner but very exciting! The people are incredibly friendly and food was good. We will be back!

    Yet again me and my family are back in Alpbach, it becomes twice a year pleasure (Christmas New Year) and half term in February.
    Each time is just getting better and better, always staying in Alpchof Hotel, great place to relax with very good service, very good food, very nice large rooms and friendly atmosphere (lovely swimming pool). Johann and his staff are doing a fantastic job.
    Skiing in Alpbach is great, the slopes are fine and well groomed, this February I guess I had the best skiing up to date yet (8 times in last 4 years.)
    The beauty of the mountains, (skiing on tree line level) makes it more beautiful, snow is always great, but the pistes were just perfect all day long.............wish I was there !!!

    28 of us have just returned from Alpbach where we had a fantastic week, blue skies, warm sunshine. Alpbach at its' best!!!!!!.
    Stayed in the Boglerhof for the third time (8th visit to Alpbach) thanks to Michaela and staff for fantastic service as usual. Will be back next year as usual.

    I have just got back from my holiday in Alpbach and the conditions for snowboarding were great.
    I definately think that the hotel Boglerhof is the best. It has all the facilities.

    Alpbach is a beautiful village and boast many resteraunts and bars. It is a pefect place for families and couples. I have been going for the last 13 years and have visited many other ski resorts inbetween, but none compare to Alpbach for skiing, ski instruction and a generally good holiday.

    100% Austrian charm in resort thanks to planning regulations that require all building to be in traditional style.

    Skiing may appear limited for advanced skiers but even the red runs pose a challenge - no motorways to cruise here.

    If the snow is fresh then there is plenty of safe powder between the pistes or with a guide from Schi Schule Alpbach there is serious off piste to be tackled.
