The Remarkables Alpine Park is known for its true alpine environment, relaxed atmosphere and sense of fun. Snowboarders, free-skiers and families flock to the mountain’s varied trails and back-country areas. It’s freestyle heaven with jibs for all levels in three terrain parks – including the new Stash at The Remarkables - and Super-pipe. Not-so-serious visitors can forget the boards or skis and enjoy the Ozone Tubing Park. Live music on the deck adds to the ambiance. Beginners will love the new surface conveyor lifts while everyone benefits from new snow-making installed this year. Children aged six and younger get free day passes at The Remarkables Ski Area – a 45-minute drive (26 km) from central Queenstown.

Comentarios de Visitantes para Remarkables

Sven Jorgenson de Sweden escribe:

I'm 25, from Sweden, and doing the 2013 season in Queenstown with a season pass for Remarkables.

Firstly, I will say, if you are choosing a resort in New Zealand, I would 100% recommend Cadrona over the Remarkables. I found Cadrona is New Zealand's best resort; Remarkables comes in second. The reason I chose Remarkables is because it's 30 minutes closer to my house.

Cadrona season pass is half the price of Remarkables. Early bird Cadrona: $350, early bird Remarks: $600. If you are coming for a week, just get in early and get a Cadrona pass, don't let NZ Ski fool you into their 'super pass' which is anything but super. Coronet 'concrete' peak being way over rated. ($40 for night ski/board there is better value).

Pros:
- Park is really good, they have 3 lines: Beginner > Intermediate > Advanced. And the staff look after it all day.
- Burton Stash Park, always empty, 'natural' boxes and rails of all descriptions. So fun.
- Faces North so gets all day sun, even on the icy days. The sun eventually melts it for soft fun conditions.
- Back country is easily accessible, but 10-30min hikes are enough to keep the punters away.
- Beginner area is free (magic carpet etc), don't be fooled to pay for that area.
- Long easy green runs to learn, I taught many people how to ride here.

Cons:
- NZ Ski are a money hungry company that take any cent they can without reinvesting in this resort. I was last here 10 years ago and almost nothing has changed except for an electronic lift pass system that barely works (there is always one down causing bottle neck queues), and the stash park (which hasn't been updated in 3 years and was funded by Burton anyway).
- The road up. 40 Minutes from town on a good run, bumpy, windy, you might get used to it, but still takes oven an hour and half of your day and is expensive with petrol costs. Hard to get used to after ski out the door resorts in Australia, Europe and Asia.
- The toilets/cafe etc is pretty foul and needs an upgrade, girls often queuing way out the door. Food is pretty much terrible. When paying $100 lift pass per day + petrol + food, you would expect to be able to go to the bathroom when you like that doesn't smell like death
- Lifts are old and slow
- Prices - everything is overpriced, take your own lunch up. I guess this is the norm in ski resorts, but most resorts at least offer decent food.

Finally:
If you like Park and are based in Queenstown, Remarkables is the closest good park setup, and you will enjoy yourself. Nice on sunny days. Also, if you are a beginner, you will like the green runs from Alta chair up to Sugar bowl chair, nice place to learn without mega crowds.
If you don't mind driving a little more I fully recommend Cadrona, wake up 30 minutes earlier and arrive at the same time as Remarkjs. You won't be disappointed. Park is better at Cadrona and the facilities are great there, feels like a small Swiss resort. Even has a superpipe and attracts all the best riders in the world. As I write this, Torstein Horgmo, Shaun White, Seb Toots, Mark McMorris and the rest of the world's best are here riding Cadrona every day in preparation for the Olympics qualifying. Enough said really.
