    Skied this Christmas at Canazei, they had had a lot of snow but it was becoming packed. Had some more while we were there and it was fab. We loved the skiing, despite every run being a red, whether they are steep or undulating. Sella Ronda was fab, very well signposted. I liked Corvara, but Arabba seemed to get the most snow. Canazei is quite quiet over Xmas, apparently it gets really busy from 27 Dec onwards.

    Ski school was very good, had heard Italian ski schools didn't speak much English but my son ended up in a group with two Danes, a Dutch lady and a single Italian lad! and he really enjoyed it.

    Stayed in a great B&B about two mins from the cable car, Garni Al Viel. Highly recommended, and great equipment from Peak Sport, right next to the cable car. Prices on mountain were a bargain compared with last year's trip to Meribel. Definintely going back.

    Returning to Canazei this year at Christmas for the eight time (not sequential) snow a bit sparse but not been let down before and with 95% snow cannon coverage won't be this time either. Canazei is by far the most cost effective resort on the Sella Ronda (day round trip of Dolomite resorts). Skiing is predominantly red and perfect for intermediates or tiring experts like me. I ski with my son now 22 (he started in Canazei at 12 after 6 years on dry slope or Scottish slopes) who also loves the place. Thankfully devoid of the mass British presence of Meribel or St Anton (recent visits) being Italian, Danish, German and more recently Russian orientated. Neighbouring resorts of Arabba and Selva can adequately cater for your more extreme skiing requirements (all skiable in and hour from Canazei). Food on the slopes is awsome and compared with France an absolute steal (as is the drink). Night life is more than adequate although not as frantic as the more touristy resorts, with a good number of late opening hostelries.
    Access to slopes is only downer being a single gondola (although very fast) but you should either arrive early (8:20) or late (after 10) to avoid a 20min wait at the foot. After that you should have a fairly queue free day unless doing the Sella Ronda (see above) when again an early start is definitely required. Over 1100 km of slopes on the ski pass and 600 km accessible directly from Canazei on skis or by using a maximum of 2 free ski buses.

    Visited Canazei over Christmas and New Year 2010/11 with the family the runs were great but we always found the ski buses to be full (and with 5 kids that is something which is very difficult to manage). Once on the slopes the runs and lifts were surprisingly clear for New Year (if you avoided the Sella Ronda lifts and runs which were always busy but tended to move quickly!). Did the Sella Ronda with the kids which they enjoyed but some of the satellite runs proved even more fun and were always empty.

    Just returned from my 3rd visit to Canazei, last time was 4yrs ago and it was even better than I remembered! It is such a pretty resort, the slopes are very well looked after and some of the lifts have been updated which was an improvement. Of a party of 4, 2 of us are intermediate skiers, 1 hasn't skied for over 30 yrs and the other was a non skier. We all had plenty to accommodate us and none of us got bored, even the non skier. Ski hire is easy and you get a really good choice, ski instructors are great, the lift passes are cheaper than they would be in France and the food/drink is cheaper too (and so much better!) It is such a vast ski area even without doing the famous Sella Ronda, which is a must, the views are amazing (unlike the day we went when weather wasn't so good, but hey ho!) Can't rate this resort highly enough, it really does have everything you want from a ski holiday and much, much more!

    Just back from our first visit to Canezei. Excellent snow conditions with only one and a half days skiing lost due to me not coping with very flat light (being an inexperienced bad weather/light skier). We stayed in the Astoria Hotel. Unfortunately, with the bath that Thomson/TUI had promised!
    Excellent hotel facilities and staff, food was plentiful, delicious and adaptable to suit personal likes etc.
    Back to the skiing ! - I am an average intermediate skier aged 61 - for me most slopes were easily skiable except initially for the more challenging reds and on the Sella Ronda Clockwise - some aspects of the red runs approaching and around Arabba. Take cash with you to the mountain restaurants as not all accept cards. Check and double check the run routes before and during your run (not always clearly signed). Great run back to the north end of town but be careful of other skiers as it narrows greatly during the last 200 metres or so. Do go for the ski areas well away from the main top of station ski areas and you will be rewarded with fewer competitors for the slopes! The Husky Pub Paradis (e) bar up and behind the Belvedere lift station in town is a great place for all of any age!
    Plenty of nursery slopes for adults and absolutely great facilities for youngsters and babies and parents!
    Due to the one day closure of all slopes in the area at Canazei we never made the hidden valley trip but I am assured that it is well worth it!

    Val De Fassa, Canazai is the best skiing area in Europe, The best thing about is it that on the slopes it's 90% Italians and they can't all be wrong. Great food etc with prices to match what the Italians will pay, i.e. not a rip off as most resorts are in Europe when they get the tourists flocking in.
    Been to Canazei 5 times in a group of approx 20.

    The area pass on offer in Canazei gives you access to one of the largest skiable areas in Europe and there is plenty on offer for any level of skier. And, the fact is that, taking into account the other areas covered, the pass covers largest ski area in the world.

    Went to Canazie in Feb half-term 2008, Weather was brilliant.
    The skiing area is massive as it is part of the Sella Ronda. We hardly skied on the same run twice. We went around the Sella Ronda clockwise. It took about 5 hours, but was well worth it. Following the signs can be a little tricky.
    Canazie has only one cable cars in the resort connecting onto the Sella Ronda, so this lift has large queues from about 8.45 until about 11.30, which can be a nightmare.
    If you have a car, drive up the mountain to the next lift station, (take a left at the round-about just after the main lift) it takes about 8 mins by car. The car park is free but fills up by 9.30am, so get there early and there is hardly any queues. There is another bonus to this, as at the end of the day you can ski out straight to your car. The main cable car in the centre has no ski out so you have to come down in the lift. Hope this helps.

    The best resort in Val Di Fassa and one of the best ski areas I have ever been to. There is a big variety of slopes for intermediate and beginner skiers but what makes the place so special is the view of the rocks. Don't miss Del Bosco slope (if you start from top of Belvedere area you will arrive in Canazei village and get about 6000m ski in the perfect slope.) Lots of mountain huts (try refugio Belvedere) with good quality food and an excellent view.

    A beautifull little resort tucked deep in the heart of the dolimites. Canazei forms part of the internationally renowned Sella Ronda and has some of the best sking of the area. It has many little resturants mid slope with a combination of fine food and hospitality. Perhaps not the best resort for night life, but for the serious intermediate skier offers some of the best facilities around.
